On Track Athletics offers advice, coaching and support to a number of Kent athletes including Rachel Hanagan, Eleanor Campbell, Laura Hanagan, Caitlin Dock, Ryan Harris, Stevie Walder, Abbie Purkiss, Nathan Fatolia, Gary Carr & James Bridge.


These athletes have won a large number of county medals and titles over the years including at least 7 this season. These athletes pages with give you a insight into the athletes we coach as well as providing useful information for all athletes.

Kent Sportshall Athletics Event 1

Three On Track Athletics coached athletes competed for Ashford Athletic club at the first KCAA Sportshall Athletics event of the 2009/10 season at Folkestone Sports Centre on Sunday 1st November. The athletes won 2 Golds in a successful day of Sportshall.

Leading the way was U15 athlete Caitlin Dock who won her first ever Sportshall Athletics event taking Gold in the U15 Girls overall competition ahead 8 other girls. Caitlin won the Speed Bounce and 2 Lap Race, as well as second in the Standing Triple Jump. She also threw a personal best in the Shot Putt with 6.13m. These performances ensured she won the event by 29 points. Fellow U15 athlete Abigail Purkis finished fourth and gained 2 third places in the Vertical Jump and Shot Putt.

U17 Athlete Laura Hanagan continued her good form from the outdoor season winning the U17 womens title. Laura won four out of five events to win the competition by over 60 points. View Full Results on our results page.

Kent Multi-event Championships

stevewalderweb-210x300On Track Athletics had a very successful at the Kent Combined Event and U13 Championships held at Eirth Stadium, Bexley on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September.

On Track Athletes won 2 Gold and 1 Bronze medals as well as a number of personal best performances.

U15 Athlete Stevie Walder came back from a months holiday in Spain not sure of what to expect in his first ever combined events competition. Starting in the hurldes Stevie got over to the 8 hurdles in the 80m Hurdles and won his race in a time of 14.0s. Stevie then went on to throw 9.25m in the Shot Putt and Jump 5.39m in the Long Jump to go into the High Jump in the lead. Stevie jumped 1.47m the highest of the competition to extend his lead going into the final event the 800m.

Stevie knew that he had to get round 2 laps of the track within 8 seconds of his nearest rival to win his first Kent title, he managed that and won the title by just under 100 points.

Rachel Hanagan had an easier path to win her second Kent Multi-event title in a row, Rachel lead from the very first event setting a new personal best of 16.0s in the 100m Hurdles. Rachel went on to record personal bests in the Shot Putt and Javelin. Rachel won by over 600 points and just 15 points off her best ever score.

Daniel Weaver competing in his first ever Kent Championships suprised himself by taking the Bronze medal in the U17 Mens Octathlon. Dan acheived personal bests in 7 of the 8 events. His best events included the Long Jump with a leap of 5.78m, the 400m with 54.7s and the Javelin.

Laura Hanagan was fifth in the U17 Womens heptathlon her highlight being a stunning personal best 800m run which was the fastest in the club by an Under 17 this season with 2.29.1.

In the U13 Championship Polly Abbott competed in the Shot Putt finished 5th with a new personal best of 7.56m and 6th in Javelin with 12.96m. Polly also run 22.8s in the heats of 150m.

England Athletics U15/U17 Championships

On Track Athletics Athletes Stevie Walder and Eleanor Campbell gained valuable experience at National Level competition competing at the England Athletics U15/U17 Age group championships held in Bedford on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th August. U15 Boy Stevie competing in his first national championships ran well to record a Electronic Timed Personal best of 12.37s to finish 7th in his 100m heat. Eleanor Campbell ran a good race to finish her 100m in a time of 12.78s.

Hanagan wins Bronze at U20 SEAA Championships

U20 Athlete Rachel Hanagan showed that she is coming into form at just the right time winning bronze at the U20 South of England Athletics Championships held in Watford on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June. Rachel leaped to a seasons best of 11.26m in the Triple Jump to take bronze in the fifth round of the competition. Rachel also ran a seasons best in the 200m to finish 4th in 200m the day before. South East Schools Inter Counties Championships

Five On Track Athletics athletes competed at the South East Schools Inter Counties Athletics match held in Southampton on Saturday 20th June. In the U17 age group Eleanor Campbell finished 4th in 100m and 2nd in the 200m to continue her preperations for the English Schools next month, Laura Hanagan competing for Kent Schools for the first time jumped 10.06m in Triple Jump come 2nd in A – String, Jess Grainger finished 2nd 300m B-string with a time of 43.8s.

In the Junior Age Group Abbie Purkiss and Stevie Walder both competed for Kent for the first time, Abbie finished 4th in the B-string 100m to equal her personal best of 13.5s. She then helped the relay team to victory in the 4×100m. Stevie ran well to finish 5th in the A-string 200m with 25.2s and also helped the boys team to victory in 4×100m relay. Kent Schools Athletics Championships

On Track Athletics athletes competed at the Kent Schools Athletics Championships on Saturday 13th June at The Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford. The squad won a total of 7 medals and a host of personal bests.

Leading the way in her final year at the Championships was Eleanor Campbell who won the Inter Girls 100m in 12.8s and 200m in 26.3s. Having the qualifying time in both events Eleanor will now have to wait to see if she is selected for the English Schools for the third year in a row.

Stevie Walder showed his improvement from last year winning the Junior Boys 200m with a time of 25.1s in the final, after running 24.8s in his heat to qualify fastest. Stevie also made the final of the 100m finishing 6th with 12.7s.

Laura Hanagan moved up to the inter girls and showed what a talent she is winning silver in the Triple Jump with a personal best of 10.29m, following this she stormed round the 300m to take bronze with a massive personal best of 43s. Training partner Jessica Grainger took the silver with a time of 42.8s.

Abbie Perkis also in her first year as a Junior Girl equalled her personal best running 27.4s in her heat and followed this with 27.5 in the final to take the bronze medal. Caitlin Dock made the final alongside Abbie with a personal best of 28.3s in her heat, Caitlin improved to 28.2s in the final to finish 5th in her first Kent Schools Final.

Nathan Fatolia jumped 5.52m in the Junior Boys Long Jump to finish 4th and Ryan Harris finished 6th in the Inter Boys Triple Jump with a jump of 11.25m. Temi Banwo ran well in the Junior Boys 200m finishing with a time of 26.5s.

Kent Outdoor Championshisp

On Track Athletics had a successfull 2 days at the Kent Outdoor Athletics Championships held at The Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford, Kent. On Track Athlete won 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals as well a number of personal and seasons bests.

U20 Athlete Rachel Hanagan continued her medal winning streak at county championships winning three medals. She took Gold in the Triple Jump with a distance of 11.13m and won two silver medals in the 200m with 25.96s and the Long Jump with a jump of 5.21m. All three performances where her best this season.

U15 Athlete Nathan Fatolia a newcomer to the On Track Athletics group won his first ever Kent medal and title in the Long Jump with a massive last jump of 5.59m. He also made the final of the 200m and just missed out on the final of 100m in his first in the U15 age group.

Follow U15 athletes did well with Stevie Walder winning a Bronze medal in the 200m with 24.61s and finishing 5th in the 100m final. U15 Girls Caitlin Dock and Abbie Purkis ran well into a big head on day 1 in the 200m with Caitlin running 28.82 and Abbie 28.68. Abbie made the final finishing in 8th place.

The U17 athletes performed well with Eleanor Campbell winning two Bronze medals. In the 100m she came through well after a bad start to take the bronze in 13.17s well off her seasons best of 12.7s. She came back on day 2 fired up to improve and stormed to a personal best of 25.81s to win her heat. She was unable to improve in the final running 25.85s to get her second bronze medal of the weekend.

Laura Hanagan continued her improvements in the 300m Hurdles running 51.61s to finish 5th in her first Kent final.

Ryan Harris was hit by injury and ran a personal best of 24.89s in the U17 menes 200m.

Kent/Essex Indoor Championshisp – Day 2

On Track Athletics athletes on continued to win medals at the Kent & Essex Indoor athletics championships with a further 4 medals being won. Eleanor Campbell again showed her strength to win the U17 womens 200m final in a new championship best and indoor personal best with a time of 26.24s. Rachel Hanagan won silver in the U20 womens 60m final with a time of 8.19s. Stevie Walder won silver in the U15 Boys 200m final with a new Indoor personal best of 25.88s.

Essex athlete Jess Grainger won her 3rd medal of the weekend taking silver in the U17 womens 200m in a personal best of 27.08s.

Senior man James Bridge aset a seasons best of 7.12s to win a bronze in the 60m final.

U15 athletes Abbie Purkis and Caitlin Dock both showed how they are improved by setting indoor personal best of 28.08s and 28.84s in qualifing for the Final in the U15 girls 200m. In teh final abbie finished 5th and Caitlin 6th.

U17 athlete Laura Hanagan raced over 200m for the first time and ran a personal best of 28.7s just missing the final.

Kent/Essex Indoor Championshisp – Day 1

On Day 1 of the Kent Indoor Athletics Championships held at Lee Valley Indoor Athletics Centre On Track Athletics athletes won 6 medals. Eleanor Campbell provided a golden moment to the day in the last event of the day the Womens U17 60m final. After an awful start in the final Eleanor cut through the field to win in a seasons best of 8.14s.

Essex Athlete Jess Grainger had a busy and successful day winning Silver in a very close Womens U17 400m final after running a personal best in her heat. Jess also claimed Bronze in the 60m final with a new personal best of 8.21s.

U20 Athlete Rachel Hanagan moved up to the 400m for the first time and finished with a Bronze medal and personal best of 61.01s.

In the U15 age groups new squad athletes Abbie Purkis & Stevie Walder both won Bronze medals in their 60m finals. Abbie a first year in the age group run a superb race to set a new personal best of 8.44s. Stevie competing for the first time in 2009 ran two great races finished with a personal best of 7.79s in the final.

Other On Track Athletes competing at the Championships included U17 Male athlete Ryan Harris who just missed out a place in the 60m final with a time of 7.79s and U15 Girl athlete Caitlin Dock equalled her personal best with 8.70s to finish 7th overall in the 60m also just missing out in the final.

London Indoor Games

On Track Athletics athletes had a good day competing at the London Indoor Games held on Sunday 1st February at Lee Valley Indoor Athletics Centre. Senior Athletes Gary Carr, James Bridge & Kwame Tuffour all competed in the 60m sprint. Gary ran a seasons best of 6.92s just 0.03s off his personal best set back in 2003 to finish 4th in race 1. James also ran a seasons best with a time of 7.17s to win his 2nd round race. Kwame ran a seasons best of 7.35s in his first race.

U20 Athlete Rachel Hanagan improved are seasons best in the 200m with a time of 26.7s and ran 8.20s in the 60m.

U17 Athletes Ryan Harris, Eleanor Campbell and Jessica Grainger all ran either seasons or personal bests. Ryan Harris followed his 60m run of 7.88s with personal best in the 200m of 24.91s to finish second in his race. Eleanor Campbell showed she is well over her injury that prevented from training before Christmas with a run of 8.24s in the 60m followed by seasons best of 26.55s. Jessica Grainger ran a personal best in the 60m with a time of 8.32s and then followed this by equalling her personal best in the 200m with a time of 27.36s.

SEAA Indoor Athletics Championships

8 On Track Athletes & Coaches took part in the SEAA Indoor Athletics Championships held at Lee Valley Indoor Athletics Centre on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th January. In the Senior Age Group Gary Carr and James Bridge both competed in the 200m and 60m events. Gary ran 23.24 in his 200m heat just missing out on a place in the semi-final. In the 60m event he ran well to make the 2nd round with a heat time of 7.11s. James ran well to make the 200m semi-final finishing 3rd and missing out on a place in the final but running a seasons best of 22.76s. James then competed in the 60m just missing out on the 2nd round with a time of 7.28s.

U20 Athlete Rachel Hanagan had a tough weekend in the first year in her age group running in the 200m and 60m. In the 200m Rachel ran well after struggling with the tight indoor track to make the semi-final and run a seasons best of 26.90s from lane 1. In 60m Rachel missed out on a place in the semi-final after a poor heat.

U17 Athletes Eleanor Campbell, Jess Grainger and Laura Hanagan competed well across the weekend. Eleanor who has just recovered from injury missed out on a place in the 200m Semi-Final after almost falling over coming off the final bend. In 60m Eleanor started to show the form that saw her win a number of county medals last year making the semi-final where she ran 8.23s. Jess ran well in the 200m heat with a time of 27.54s just behind Eleanor in the same heat. Laura ran a personal best in heat of the 60m with a time of 8.59s showing her hard work in training is starting to pay off.

U15 Athletes Caitlin Dock and Abbie Perkiss competing at there first SEAA Championships both ran personal bests and gained valuable experience. Abbie ran 8.52s to finish 4th in her heat and Caitlin ran 8.70 to finish 3rd in her heat.

All these athletes will be competing at the Kent Indoor Champinship in Febrauary and will be looking to improve further.

Data Connection Indoor Open Meeting 04/01/09

On Track Athletes started their 2009 season at the Data Connection Indoor Open Meeting on Sunday 4th January at Lee Valley Athletics Centre.

U17 Athletes Ryan Harris and Laura Hanagan both run personal bests for the 60m. Ryan ran 7.75s to finish 4th in his first race knocking over 0.1s off his pervious best of 7.91s. Laura ran 8.69s and like Ryan knocked over 0.1s off her previous best of 8.84s to win her race.

U15 Girl Caitlin Dock ran close to her best of 8.75s with 8.76s in her second race. U20 athlete Rachel Hanagan started her Indoor Season with a time of 8.17s slightly slower then her personal best.

All of the athletes will be competing at the SEAA Indoor Championships on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th January at Lee Valley Indoor Athletics Centre.

Kent Sportshall Championships 14/12/08

On Track Athletes Laura and Rachel Hanagan won 8 medals at the Kent County Sportshall Athletics Championships on Sunday 14th December. Laura took Gold in the U15 Girls 4 Lap event following in the footsteps of her sister Rachel who the title in 2006 and Eleanor Campbell who won the event last year. Laura won 3 Silver Medals in the 2-lap, Standing Long Jump and Speed Bounce. Laura will now be looking for compete at the South East Regional Sportshall event and become the 3rd On Track Athlete to win the All-Rounder title.

Sister Rachel made a is a golden day for the Hanagan Family winning Gold in all four of her events the Standing Long Jump, Standing Triple Jump, 2 lap and 4 lap events. Rachel set a new Championship best in the 4 lap event. Rachel is now preparing for the Indoor season where she will be competing in the 60m, 200m and 400m events.

Kent Sportshall Meet 2

On Track Athletes Laura Hanagan & Caitlin Dock competed in the second Kent County Sportshall Athletics Competition on Sunday 9th November 2008 held at Tunbridge Wells Leisure Centre with great success.

Laura finished 2nd overall in the U15 Girls competition winning the 4 -lap event and gaining 2nd place in both the Standing Triple Jump & Speed Bounce.

Caitlin finished 4th overall in the U15 Girls competition winning the Standing Triple Jump and gaining 2nd place in the 4 – lap event and 3rd in the Speed Bounce.

Both girls help Ashford Athletic Club to the overall U15 Team Title.
