Jenny Meadows (Wigan) and Kate Dennison (Sale) provided the icing on the cake at the Aviva Grand Prix on Saturday afternoon, with Meadows not only taking a hugely popular 800m win, but also delivering a new national indoor 800m record in the process, and Dennison setting her eleventh UK pole vault record, flying over the bar at 4.60m

On Track Athletics coached athletes won 5 medals at the Kent Indoor Athletics Championships held at Lee Valley Athletics Indoor Athletics Centre on the weekend of the 6th/7th February 2010.

Leading the way on Day 1 was Nathan Fatolia and Laura Hanagan who both won gold medals…Nathan won the U15 Boys 60m title in only his second 60m race (His heat was the first) winning with a new club record time of 7.77s. Laura improved her seasons best by half a metre with a jump of 10.21m to win the U17 womens Triple Jump.

On Day 2 Rachel Hanagan won 2 medals winning the U20 Womens Triple Jump with a leap of 11.14m just 1cm of her indoor PB set in 2008. She started the day winning silver in the Long Jump event with a jump of 4.87m.

U15 Girl Abbie Purkis won a bronze medal in the 200m event after setting a new Personal best in her heat with a time of 27.97s.

Other On Track Athletics coached athletes competing at the championships all set seasons bests or personal bests. These includes Stevie Walder U17 Men – 60m/200m, Caitlin Dock U17 Womens – 60m/200m and Lucy Holmes U17 Womens – Long Jump.

World Champion Jessica ENNIS broke the UK Indoor 60m Hurdles Record at the Aviva International Match Glasgow in Glasgow. Jessica running as guest ran 7.95s to win her race and break the previous best of 7.96s held by Sarah Claxton who finished 4th in the same race.

On Track Athletes competed at day 2 of the South of England Indoor Athletics Championships at Lee Valley Indoor Athletics Centre. Caitlin Dock ran a personal best of 8.6s in her U17 Womens 60m heat to make her first ever semi-final. Abbie Purkis followed in her footsteps making the Semi-Final of the U15 Girls 60m event with a best time of 8.63s.

Stevie Walder competing the U17 Mens 60m ran a good race to finish in a time of 7.8s very close to his best of 7.78s.

On Track Athletics coached athletes competed at the South of England Indoor Athletics Championships at Lee Valley Athletics Centre on Saturday 16th January.

Rachel Hanagan competing off the shortest run in the competition jumped a distance of 10.57m to win the Bronze medal and get her 2010 season off to a good start. In the U15 Girls 200m Abbie Purkis run a strong race in her heat to finish 3rd with 28.69s just missing out on a place in the Semi-Final. In the U17 womens 200m Caitlin Dock also ran a strong race to finish 5th in her heat with a time of 29.04s.

In the U17 Mens 200m Stevie Walder ran an indoor personal best of 25.52s to finish 4th in his heat missing out on the semi-final. Laura Hanagan competing in the U17 Womens Triple Jumped finished 5th with a jump of 9.72m and like her sister she was jumping off a very short run up.

On Track Athletics supported Sportshall Athletics with the delivery of the Aviva Sportshall Fun in Athletics London Regional Final on Saturday 9th January at Westcroft Sports Centre, Sutton. The event involved five teams from across the London region.
