Gary Carr – Press Release

Ashford Athletic Club’s top male athlete; Scottish International Sprinter Gary Carr has been given a boost through sponsorship of new car and training kit. Local businessman and Managing Director of Premier One Vision Computers, Bill Breckenridge, has donated a brand new £17,000 Vauxhall Astra Sri to help Gary get to and from training and competitions.

Bill said

I have for sometime funded local sponsorship in various areas of interest,“I have been watching Gary closely over the years, and if can be frustrating competing at his level without support and backing, hopefully his new transport will assist somewhat achieving his Life goals”

Gary who competed at the Norwich Union World Trails and AAA Championships last weekend in Manchester has season’s bests of 10.5s in the 100m and 21.7s in the 200m. Gary splits his training between Ashford and Canterbury and is working towards gaining selection for Scottish Commonwealth Games team in 2010.

Gary said

“This sponsorship deal will enable me to travel around the UK to competitions and training sessions. I hope I will be able to repay Bill’s support by representing Scotland at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.”

Gary Carr has also been supported by On Track Athletics who have supplied him with some training kit. On Track Athletics offers advice and training to a number of Ashford’s top young athletes including Triple Jumper Rachel Hanagan and Sprinters Eleanor Campbell and James Bridge
