Canterbury Summer Aviva Star:track – Bookings Open

On Track Athletics is please to announce the dates for our summer Canterbury Aviva Star:track Athletics coaching course. The course is for young people aged 8 up to 16 years and will involve expert coaching in running, jumping and throwing. More information is below:

Venue: Body & Mind Leisure Club, The Canterbury High School

On Track Athletics is pleased to announce the date of the next Canterbury Aviva Star:track athletics coaching course. The course will be run on Friday 25th February at Body & Mind Leisure @ The Canterbury High School, Canterbury.

The course will involve athletics coaching and activities for 8 to 16 year olds. All abilities welcome including beginners and club athletes. Activities will be based on Sportshall athletics and fitness.

On Track Athlete wins 3 Regional Sportshall Medals

Four On Track Athletics coached athletes competed at the South East Regional Aviva Sportshall UK Championships event at Burgess Hill on Sunday 14th February.

Nathan Fatolia was the leading athlete in the U15 Boys event winning 3 medals on the day. Nathan won Silver in the 2 Lap event and Standing Triple Jump and finished 3rd to win the Bronze in the overall allrounder standings. Temi Banwo competed well in the 4-Lap, Standing Triple and Speed Bounce.

In the U15 Girls Caitlin Dock finished as the top Kent athlete in the allrounder event standings finishing 9th after some good performances in the Speed Bounce and 4 Lap. She also set a Personal Best of 2.22m in the Standing Long Jump. Abbie Purkis competed well in the Vertical Jump, 4-lap and Shot Putt.

Ennis Break UK Indoor 60m Hurdles Record

World Champion Jessica ENNIS broke the UK Indoor 60m Hurdles Record at the Aviva International Match Glasgow in Glasgow. Jessica running as guest ran 7.95s to win her race and break the previous best of 7.96s held by Sarah Claxton who finished 4th in the same race.

UKA_RGB UKA yesterday announced the diverse starting line-up that will represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the forthcoming Aviva International Match at Kelvin Hall, Glasgow on 30 January.

The seventeen-strong team will face tough opposition from teams representing USA, Sweden, Commonwealth Select, and Germany at the highly anticipated event which marks the beginning of the indoor season.

With more than half the team enjoying a successful World Championship campaign in Berlin last August, including three medallists, GB&NI pose a real threat to their overseas competitors who they may meet again at the World Indoor Championships, in Doha, Qatar from 12-14 March 2010. (more…)
